Jayarani Arts and Science College for Women, Salem, along with Jayarani Matric Hr. Sec. School, Nethimedu, celebrated Pongal on January 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. R. Vasanthamali, Professor, Department of Tamil, Periyar University, Salem. The celebrations commenced with the preparation of 11 Pongal pots, class-wise, symbolizing unity and devotion. Students sought blessings from the Lord Almighty, and the college secretary blessed the gathering with holy water, adding a divine touch to the occasion. A Pongal prayer was then offered, seeking prosperity and gratitude to the Sun God for the harvest. Following the rituals, the atmosphere turned festive with vibrant folk songs, creating a joyful mood. Students enthusiastically joined in traditional dances, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu. The event successfully blended spirituality and festivity, emphasizing the significance of gratitude and unity during Pongal. The celebration brought together students and staff in a spirit of joy and harmony, leaving everyone with cherished memories of cultural traditions and festive cheer.
